This project is in the development and patent phase, which is why the information provided is limited.
ProDapt represents the first generation of an intrinsically functional prosthetic device that ensures a seamless connection between the amputated limb and the prosthesis.
It is a prosthetic adapter that, through the use of smart materials, actively adjusts to accommodate changes in the residual limb throughout the day. Furthermore, thanks to the utilization of cutting-edge materials, it can monitor changes in pressure on the residual limb as if it were a touchscreen. This data creates a digital pressure map that healthcare professionals can interpret.
The number of amputations grows by 12.8% each year
1.25% of the world population has suffered an amputation
35% of prosthesis users give them up due to pain
22% of the defendants cannot use prostheses due to medical incompatibility.
Designed using intrinsically functional materials
This device has been designed with the premise of being intrinsically functional.
Smart and emerging materials have been employed to enable the device to perform its functions without the need for physical mechanisms. This not only allows the device to be independent of any energy source but also reduces the components to a minimal size, making automatic adjustment and monitoring functions possible within the confined space of a prosthetic socket.
3D scanning and simulation for an ultra-personalized and parametric outcome
ProDapt has been designed to maintain low-power connectivity for data exchange with mobile devices, enabling both the user and a medical professional to monitor the behavior of the residual limb and the adaptability level of the prosthesis.
ProDapt is designed to be accessible to everyone and eliminate device generation times.
This project has a real prototype that is awaiting testing and is being developed in collaboration with a partner.
